Are you ready to get started? To help researchers listen for orcas you’ll need to know a few things. First spend some time learning about our local orcas, how they make sound and why it is important to study them.
Then practice identifying orca pods by their calls on our practice pages. You’ll get a chance to test yourself on easy, challenge and expert level recordings of orcas. After you listen, pick the calls you think you are hearing from the call library and see if you were right.
With your new skills you can listen live to any of the five hydrophone nodes and report what you hear to other listeners and our network scientists.
